The USS Constellation, nick-named “Connie” is the third ship of the United States Navy to name in on honor of the constellation of stars on the United States flag. The ship was built by the New York Naval shipyard with sponsorship by Mary Herter (wife of Secretary of State Christian Herter). The construction started on the 14th of September 1957. Her construction was halted when a fire badly damaged the parts of the ship that were already finished. This happened on the 19th of December 1960.
After repairs, the USS Constellation was commissioned to active service on the 27th of October 1961. The ship saw action in several situations, and was decommissioned on the 6th of August 2003. She is known at the Inactive Ships Maintenance Facility in Bremerton, WA.
The USS Constellation was built to meet the following specifications:
The USS Constellation was built using several types of asbestos materials which, if damaged, released tiny asbestos fibers into the air. If anyone nearby swallowed these fibers, they are sure to develop a type of asbestos related disease in the near future. No one on board the USS Constellation has reported any health problems that could have been related to or caused by asbestos, although some of the diseases affecting crew members could have been asbestos diseases. It is very difficult to test this claim due to the similarity in symptoms; they were probably mistaken for other types of diseases.
You are entitled to some form of compensation if you were exposed to asbestos and as a result, you developed a severe disease. It would be wise that you seek legal counseling, and if the lawyer decides that you have a case, allow him to use all the means at his disposal. He will commence legal procedures towards filing the claim in your name, and he will also represent you during the trial, guaranteeing a 90 percent chance of winning the case and being awarded with an important amount.
