Oriskany was one of the ships of the United States fleet that used a lot of asbestos materials. If damaged, these materials had the ability to release airborne fibers of the mineral, creating a very dangerous environment for the crew on board. No crew member has been discovered to be suffering from asbestos related diseases, but we recommend those that have been on board to visit a doctor as soon as the first symptoms are experienced.
