USS Rendova (CVE-114) was a Commencement Bay class escort carrier of the United States Navy. Originally, she was assigned the name Mosser Bay and competed as the Willamette. It was laid down on 15th June 1944 and launched on 29th December the same year. The ship was sponsored by Mrs. Anna-Marie H. Kurtz and commissioned on 22nd October one year later. Captain R. W Ruble was the first in command. Rendova ship was commissioned too late in order to serve World War II. Rendova was decommissioned on 27th January 1950 when she berthed with Pacific Reserve Fleet. One year later Rendova was ordered to be activated when North Korean Army crossed the 38th Parallel so that on 3rd January 1951 was recommissioned going west. Once arrived at Kobe she relieved USS Sicily (CVE-118), operated „Nan” area in the Yellow Sea where she relieved HMS glory (R62) launching for the first time her first air support sortie. The ship and the squadron established a new sortie record for CVEs -64. Her last support operation took place on 6th December 1951. Next year she participated in the operation „Ivy” that was an atomic test in the Marshals. In commission in reserve she continued to train off the west coast. In 1954 returned again in a WestPac deployment as a hunter-killer carrier. It was decommissioned on 30 June 1955. Rendova’s main characteristics are:
