USS Wasp (CV-7) was the eighth US Navy aircraft carrier being the sole ship of her class was built on a reduced-size version of the Yorktown class hull. She was laid down on 1st April 1936 and launched on 4th April 1939 sponsored by Caroline Edison. The ship was commissioned on 25 April 1940 with John W. Reeves Jr. in command. Wasp departed the Army Quartermaster Base to conduct steering drills and full-power trials and run her final sea trials on 26 September 1940. She joined the fleet and assigned to carrier Division 3, Patrol Force on October, the same year. Wasp patrolled as the Atlantic Fleet’s neutrality patrol zones that were extended toward east. After that she took part at the War from the Pacific and Atlantic. USS Wasp was torpedoed and took fire on 15th September 1942 and then sank. Main characteristics of Wasp are:
