The initial USS Albany was an Oregon City class cruiser, later converted to a guided missile cruiser. The United States Navy ship known as the USS Albany was the lead ship in her class as the guided missile cruiser, and was laid down on the 6th of March 1944, and construction was completed on the 30th of June 1945. Sponsored by Mrs. Elizabeth F. Pinckney and constructed by the Bethlehem Steel Company, the guided missile cruiser USS Albany was commissioned to active service on the 15th of June 1945. The ship spent most of her active service period as a training ship, and without being involved in any noticeable battles or military actions. USS Albany was decommissioned on the 29th of August 1980, being sold for scrap 10 years later. Here are the guided missile cruiser’s main characteristics after the conversion:
Asbestos was a very common ingredient in many materials used for insulation and fireproofing. Such materials were used on a large scale on World War II era United States Navy ships. These were accidentally damaged, and doing so allowed for tiny asbestos fibers to be released in the air. As a result, people on board the ship were constantly exposed to asbestos and some of them have even accused symptoms similar to those that are now known to be caused by asbestos exposure. No official records were found of these, but families have been confirming them.
If you were a crew member of the USS Albany and have been exposed to asbestos, you may have developed a severe disease as a result. In this case you probably need to pay for very expensive medical bills. We suggest contacting a specially trained attorney to undertake your case. This type of lawyer will handle all legal actions and can even file the claim in your name. This usually results in you being awarded a large amount of money, allowing you to pay for appropriate treatment for your disease.
