Another one of the Cleveland class light cruiser was the USS Denver. The second ship of the United States Navy to bare the name of the city of Denver, Colorado, was built by the New York Shipbuilding Corporation. Construction commenced on the 26th of September 1940. USS Denver was launched on the 4th of April 1942. The ship entered active service on the 15th of October 1942, and was one of the most important ships of her type during the War. USS Denver received eleven battle stars and the Navy Unit Commendation for her service during World War II. After returning for one final time to the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, she was decommissioned on the 7th of April 1947 and sold for scrap in 1960. These ware her main attributes:
