USS Worden was a Truxtun-class destroyer laid down on November 13, 1899 and launched on August 15, 1901. It was commissioned on February 17, 1903 under Lt. Benjamin B. McCormick’s command with the hull number DD-16 and served in the US Navy for 16 years until it was decommissioned on July 13, 1919. During its activity, the ship carried a complement of 78 men on board and it had the main missions in Maine, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, Philadelphia, New York, Brest, Bermuda or Azores. After the decommissioning, the ship was struck from the Naval Register on September 15, 1919. Several months later, on January 3, 1920 USS Worden was sold for scrapping.
