The USS Begor (DE-711/APD-127) was a Crosley-class high-speed transport laid down and launched in 1944, and commissioned in 1945. During the WW2, the ship was assigned to the Pacific Fleet, escorting convoys across the Marshall, Caroline, and Philippine Islands. She then joined the 3rd Fleet route to occupy Japan with Underwater Demolition Team 21 on board, transporting them for landing beaches survey duties. The vessel also assisted in demilitarizing ships and conducted dock surveys in Yokosuka Naval Dockyard until departing for the US. During the Korean War, she completed two tours. From 1950 to 1951, she supported the Hungnam evacuation, deployed demolition teams and commandos, and joined raids disrupting enemy rail lines. Her second tour from 1952 to 1953 involved patrols, UDT missions, and participation in post-Armistice prisoner-of-war exchanges. The ship conducted a Far Eastern deployment from 1954 to 1955, taking part in the Vietnamese Operation Passage to Freedom. The USS Begor was decommissioned and placed in the Reserve Fleet in 1959; she was reactivated briefly in 1961, but laid up again in 1962, reclassified as a small amphibious transport, LPR-127 in 1969. Final decommissioning followed in 1975, and the ship was struck from the Register in the same year.
