USS Lester (DE-1022)

The USS Lester (DE-1022) was a Dealey-class destroyer escort laid down on September 2, 1954, and launched on January 5, 1956. It was commissioned on June 14, 1957, with the hull number DE-1022, and served in the U.S. Navy for 16 years until it was decommissioned on December 14, 1973. During its activity, the ship carried a complement of 173 people on board and had its main missions in Rhode Island, Georgia, Gibraltar, Lebanon, Trinidad, Latin America, Florida, New York, and Norfolk. After the strike, the ship was sold for scrapping on June 18, 1974.
